Abstract
Application of an MSSW/BVW hybrid mode to a signal-to-noise enhancer w as found to lower the operating frequency of the enhancer and to impro ve its transient-response characteristics. Hybrid modes can be propaga ted in YIG films by applying a bias magnetic field at an arbitrary ang le to the propagation direction. These modes were found to be effectiv ely launched at a frequency lower than that required to launch the MSS W mode and to easily reduce the enhancer operating frequency. Examinat ion of the relationship between the transient responses and the satura tion magnetization of the YIG films showed that the transient response s of the enhancer can be shortened by using both the hybrid mode with a small angle and YIG film with as large a saturation magnetization as possible.
