A schematized documentation system for recording incidents, events and
complications on the basis of the recommendations given by the DGAI f
or the field of anesthesia appears to be an excellent choice to create
a basis for the collection of data relevant to quality assurance in t
he case of preoperative donation of autologous blood, Quantifying the
severity of adverse reactions to 6,459 predeposited donations which we
re noted in 1961 patients by this system demonstrates that a score sys
tem used in anesthesiology, the Munich-risk-checklist, ascertains the
prognosis of adverse reactions associated with preoperative donation o
f autologous blood. The presence of 7 relative contraindications to pr
edonation of autologous blood increased prevalence and grade of advers
e reactions: High age, high or low weight, labile hypertension, method
of donation, number of previous donations, coronary artery disease, a
ngina and myocardial infarction which occured more than six months pre
viously.
