Cj. Wormald et Pw. Johnson, THE 2ND VIRIAL-COEFFICIENT OF DICHLOROMETHANE FROM MEASUREMENTS OF THE EXCESS MOLAR ENTHALPY OF (NITROGEN PLUS DICHLOROMETHANE)(G), Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 30(10), 1998, pp. 1235-1241
A flow-mixing calorimeter has been used to measure the excess molar en
thalpy H-m(E) (p degrees) of (nitrogen + dichloromethane)(g) at standa
rd atmospheric pressure (p degrees) over the temperature range (323.2
to 423.2) K. The measurements were analysed using pair potential param
eters for nitrogen, assuming suitable combining rules for the calculat
ion of cross-terms, and finding parameters of the Stockmayer potential
for dichloromethane which Fitted the excess enthalpy measurements. Th
ese parameters are epsilon/k = 722 K, sigma = 0.318 nm, and t = 0.289
. Second virial coefficients calculated from these parameters are in a
ccord with those from (p, V, T) experiments. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
