Abstract
The present study was carried out to investigate the antiperoxidative effect of Liver, a compound herbal formulation, against erythromycin e stolate induced lipid peroxidation. The oral administration of Liver t o rats along with erythromycin estolate caused a significant reversal in lipid peroxidation, enzymatic leakage and produced enhancement of c ellular antioxidant defence, revealing that the antioxidative action o f Liver is responsible for its protective activity. These observations were supplemented by histopathological examination of liver and kidne y sections. The results of this study revealed that Liver could afford significant protection against erythromycin estolate induced lipid pe roxidation. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
