Abstract
The period of efficacious immune reactivity afforded by tetanus immuni zation and the need for continuing some forms of tetanus vaccination p rograms have been the subjects of recent debates. Our studies demonstr ate that the level of antitetanus immunity based on immunological memo ry (i.e., cellular immune responsiveness) varies dramatically as a fun ction of age, with older individuals constituting a population which i s increasingly susceptible to tetanus infection.
