Abstract
The results of thalamotomy for the various kinds of tremor are describ ed. The nomenclature of the ventrolateral thalamic nuclei is discussed . Long-term thalamic stimulation seems a promising addition to or alte rnative for the thalamotomy, but this has still to be proven by a pros pective trial that includes a cost-effectiveness analysis.
