Ij. Zedek et al., DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF MILITARY-UNIQUE STANDARDIZED GYNECOLOGY PATIENTS FOR MILITARY RESIDENTS IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY TRAINING-PROGRAMS, Military medicine, 163(11), 1998, pp. 767-769
Focused military curricula and readiness training are often inadequate
for military resident physicians. We developed a standardized gynecol
ogic military-unique patient scenario and examination to assess obstet
rics and gynecology residents' clinical and operational problem-solvin
g abilities. Integration of military-unique gynecologic standardized p
atients, clinical scenarios, and objective structured clinical examina
tions into obstetrics and gynecology curricula is a novel approach for
realistic medical readiness training for resident physicians. This to
ol can become a cornerstone in the ongoing development of needed milit
ary-unique curricula.
