Mt. Cuberes et al., MANIPULATION OF C-60 MOLECULES ON CU(111) SURFACES USING A SCANNING TUNNELING MICROSCOPE, Applied physics A: Materials science & processing, 66, 1998, pp. 669-673
We demonstrate and discuss the use of a scanning tunneling microscope
operated at room temperature to push individual C-60 molecules out fro
m their stable adsorption sites at Cu(111) steps, trap them into nanom
eter-sized Cu vacancy sites formed with the tip, or reposition them on
e-by-one along a Cu step under complete control.
