Y. Ohba et al., STM OBSERVATIONS OF HYDROGEN-INDUCED PB CLUSTERING ON PB SI(111) SYSTEMS/, Applied physics A: Materials science & processing, 66, 1998, pp. 1017-1019
Using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), we have studied the nucleat
ion and growth process of Pb clusters induced by the atomic hydrogen a
dsorption on the Si(111)-root 3 x root 3-Pb (beta), (gamma) surfaces.
For both root 3-Pb (beta) and (gamma) surfaces, Pb atoms formed cluste
rs whose height is estimated to be about 2-4 atomic layers, consistent
with previous ion scattering results. We also discuss the difference
of both hydrogen-induced structures in detail.
