Ap. Argekar et Sg. Powar, SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF SALBUTAMOL SULFATE AND BROMHEXINE HYDROCHLORIDE IN FORMULATIONS BY QUANTITATIVE THIN-LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY, JPC. Journal of planar chromatography, modern TLC, 11(4), 1998, pp. 254-257
A simple, rapid, and precise quantitative TLC method has been develope
d for the simultaneous determination of salbutamol sulfate and bromhex
ine hydrochloride, The compounds were separated on precoated silica ge
l 60 F-254 plates with methanol-chloroform-triethylamine, 5.5 + 4.5 0.05 (v/v) as mobile phase. Detection was performed densitometrically
at lambda = 276 nm, Calibration curves were linear in the concentratio
n range 20-580 ng mu L-1 fur both compounds. Assays of salbutamol sulf
ate and bromhexine hydrochloride were 1,98 mg/5 mt (RSD 1.4%) and 3.97
mg/5 mt (RSD 1.1%) for one brand and 1.99 mg/tabtet (RSD 1,62%) and 7
.98 mg/tablet (RSD 1.41%) for another. Recoveries of salbutamol sulfat
e and bromhexine hydrochloride were 98.84% and 99.62%, respectively, f
rom the first brand 1 and 99.0% and 99.63% from the second.
