PREDICTION OF THE THIN-LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHIC RETENTION OF AMINO-ACIDS

The TLC retention of fifteen amino acids has been determined on silica gel layers developed with different mobile phases. The chromatograms were visualized by use of ninhydrin solution. Correlation analysis was conducted and fifteen parameters are discussed, including topological indexes and physicochemical properties. Of the fifteen parameters, th ree with both topological and physicochemical significance were select ed for construction of multi-parameter regression equations for predic tion of the R-F values of the amino acids. Experimental results were i n good agreement with calculated values, which confirms the accuracy o f the predictions.
