Abstract
The effect of NO3- on the isotopic measurements of boron based on the Cs2BO2+ ion with graphite loading was investigated. The measured 309/3 08 ratio was considerably reduced by the presence of NO3- ion, especia lly in the presence of mannitol, due to the formation of the Cs2CNO+ i on producing ion peaks at masses of 308 and 309. The procedure of ion exchange using Amberlite IAR 743 resin, a boron-specific resin, and OH -Dowex 1 resin for extracting boron from sample solution was developed . The NO3- ion could be removed from sample solution during sample pre paration by using this procedure. (Int J Mass Spectrom 178 (1998) 213- 220) (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
