Abstract
Chemical examinaiton of the ethyl acetate extract of the soft coral La
bophytum catalai Tixier-Durivault, collected from Diglipur island of t
he Andaman and Nicobar group of islands, furnishes two new cembranoids
2 and 3, nephthenol 1, a novel furanosesquiterpene 4, four polyhydrox
ysterols 5-8 along with a mixture of sesquiterpenes and a mixture of m
onohydroxysterols. The structures have been elucidated by a study of t
heir physical and spectral data.
