Abstract
Positive attitudes to, and attainment in, reading go together. This st udy compares 121 Australian and New Zealand ex-Reading Recovery studen ts with 121 students in a comparison group. Students in both groups ha d similar primary educational experiences and were assessed on compreh ension and reading performance and on attitudes to reading. The ex-Rea ding Recovery students were significantly superior, indicating the pro bable effectiveness of Reading Recovery over the longer term.
