Yma. Wang et al., TREATMENT OF TAKAYASUS-AORTITIS WITH PERCUTANEOUS TRANSLUMINAL ANGIOPLASTY AND WALL STENT - A CASE-REPORT, Angiology, 49(11), 1998, pp. 945-949
The authors describe a young woman who developed severe toxemia during
pregnancy, requiring emergency lower segment cesarian section at 27 w
eeks of gestation. Postpartum angiography showed a discrete stenotic l
esion of the abdominal aorta proximal to the origin of the renal arter
y. Angioplasty was performed, followed by the insertion of a wall sten
t at the site of the stenosis. Her hypertension control improved drama
tically after the stenting. This is, so far, the first reported case u
sing a wall stent following angioplasty to relieve abdominal aortic st
enosis due to Takayasu's arteritis.
