P. Barancok et M. Varsavova, INFLUENCE OF EXOGENOUS FACTORS ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF CEDER PINE-SPRUCE FORESTS AND DWARF PINE FORESTS IN THE BELIANSKE TATRY MTS, EKOLOGIA-BRATISLAVA, 17(3), 1998, pp. 242-254
Ceder pine (Pinus cembra) and dwarf pine (Pinus mugo) are high-mountai
n tree species occurring in the Belianske Tatry Mrs in the area of the
ir natural distribution, Their distribution is the result of interacti
on of natural abiotic and biotic factors. Geological substratum, relie
f and climatological conditions of the Belianske Tatry Mts determine a
nd limit the occurrence of single elements of flora and vegetation and
it is fully valid for the distribution of these two tree species and
their stands. Except of natural abiotic and biotic factors also man ha
d and has a significant influence on the present distribution of ceder
-pine and dwarf pine. Especially his activities in this high-mountain
environment reflected on the overall presentation of single species an
d closeness, extent and degree of damage of their stands. Man signific
antly influenced the upper border of the distribution of these tree sp
ecies, proportion of their representation in forest stands as well as
their state of health.
