The velocity in a turbulent boundary layer on a long cylinder at a sli
ght yaw to the free stream was measured using hot wire anemometry for
yaw angles of - 0.55 degrees less than or equal to alpha less than or
equal to 0.55 degrees. The mean velocity profile retains a log region
regardless of yaw with a slope that is slightly dependent upon the yaw
angle. The boundary layer thickness increases nonlinearly with yaw an
gle, but the dimensionless distance from the wall of the maximum turbu
lence intensity is independent of yaw angle.
