Mechanopolymerization of pentabromobenzyl (mono)acrylate (PBB-MA) on t
he surface of inorganic fillers Mg(OH)(2) and CaCO3 was studied. The r
ole of activated surface of fillers was investigated using DSC and FTI
R. The influence of milling time and of the filler chemical content on
polymerization starting temperature and polymerization enthalpy was s
tudied using DSC. It was shown that an increase of the filler concentr
ation leads to a higher maximum conversion degree. The correlation bet
ween conversion kinetics and polymerization enthalpy of the material n
otpolymerized during milling was shown.
