Abstract
The ideas of Yu.A. Liverovskii about various aspects of studying agrog enic soils are considered. Data on the plowed soils of the northern fo rest-steppe zone differing in the degree of their improvement by human s are discussed. Agrogenic transformation of soils is regarded as disp laying a dual character that is manifested both in the plow and subplo w layers. The degree of preservation of former agrogenic features in t he oldarable soils under restored forest vegetation is analyzed.
