Ea. Jonckheere et Gr. Yu, H-INFINITY LONGITUDINAL CONTROL OF CRIPPLED TRIJET AIRCRAFT WITH THROTTLES ONLY, Control engineering practice, 6(5), 1998, pp. 601-613
A novel propulsion controlled aircraft (PCA) design technique for airp
lanes with control surface failures is presented. The H-infinity model
-matching methodology is applied to the problem of controlling the cri
ppled aircraft from conventional stick input commands using the engine
s as the only available actuators. This paper focuses on pitch control
of trijet configuration aircraft, and more specifically on the effect
of the height of the tail engine above the center of gravity of the a
irplane. Simulations on ''modified'' L-1011 models demonstrate the con
cept. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
