We study the possibility to establish L-operator's formalism by Faddee
v-ReshetikhinTakhtajan-Semenov-Tian-Shansky (FRST) for quantized curre
nt algebras, that is, for quantum affine algebras in the 'new realizat
ion' by V. Drinfeld with the corresponding Hopf algebra structure and
for their Yangian counterpart. We establish this formalism using the t
wisting procedure by Tolstoy and the second author and explain the pro
blems which on I:RST approach encounters for quantized current algebra
s. We also show that, for the case of U-q (<(sl)over cap (n)>), entrie
s of the L-operators of the FRTS type give the Drinfeld current operat
ors for the nonsimple roots, which we discovered recently. As an appli
cation, we deduce the commutation relations between these current oper
ators for U-q (<(sl)over cap (n)>).
