The experimental design and analysis of two-phase dynamic displacement
experiments are investigated, with particular attention to incorporat
ing measured saturation distributions. Pressure drops and saturation d
istributions measured with displacement experiments using multiple flo
w-rate injection rates can provide accurate estimates of relative perm
eability and capillary pressure functions over broad ranges of fluid s
aturations. Successful reconciliation of measured saturation distribut
ions and pressure drops establishes an experimental validation of the
Darcy model for two-phase flow in porous media.
