Abstract
A vibrational analysis with tentative bands assignment of the high res olution fluorescence and fluorescence excitation spectra of hypericin in ethanol at 4.2 K is presented. Spectral evidences of the occurrence of intramolecular hydrogen bonds are given. The phosphorescence spect rum of hypericin in ethanol at 77 K has been recorded and the followin g main parameters of the triplet state were measured: E-T1 = 13250 cm( -1) and tau(T1) = 7.2 x 10(-4) s.
