Element 106, isotope mass number presumably 263, detected by its spont
aneous fission, has been isolated from the products of the bombardment
of Cf-249 With (18)0 by the thermochromatography of oxochlorides. Spe
cifically, it was separated from elements 105, 104 and heavy actinoids
. Dioxodichloride seems to be responsible for the observed behaviour o
f element 106. Some 40 atoms of the element have been registered.
