Vm. Gunko et al., MODIFICATION OF SOME OXIDES BY ORGANIC AND ORGANOSILICON COMPOUNDS, Journal of adhesion science and technology, 11(5), 1997, pp. 627-653
Highly dispersed oxides SiO2, TiO2, ZnO, and TiO2/SiO2 modified by org
anic [di(ethylene glycol), glycerol, butanol, and methanol] and organo
silicon (3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, hexamethyldisilazane, methacryl
oyloxymethylenemethyl diethoxysilane, and blend of methylcyclosiloxane
s) compounds were studied by IR spectroscopy and quantum chemical ab i
nitio and semi-empirical methods. Unmodified and modified oxides were
tested as additives in ethyl cellulose and nitrocellulose coatings for
improvement of their adhesion properties and light and corrosion resi
stance. The results obtained show the possibility of improving these p
roperties.
