A study was made of the applicability of dicarboxylic acid diesters fo
r the plasticization of starch acetate. The ratio of the carboxyl and
methylene groups was found to be the most important criterion for the
use of this group of substances. This ratio should have values between
0.45 and 0.66. From the available dicarboxylic acid diesters, the die
thyl eaters and dibutyl eaters were investigated.
