Abstract
The technique of ion chromatography is based on several key innovation s. However, in addition to innovations, successful commercial developm ent is necessary for any technique to become a routine analytical tool . This article gives an account of the innovations that made ion chrom atography possible and how the market for ion analysis evolved.
