Conducting poly(o-aminophenol) films deposited on Pt electrodes were s
tudied by quartz crystal impedance. The number of molecules of water p
er poly(o-aminophenol) equivalent in its oxidized form was determined
to be approximately seven. As reduction proceeds, swelling of the film
takes place but it still exhibits rigid features which make it suitab
le to analyse by the quartz crystal microbalance. Results show a sligh
tly more rigid polymer at higher concentration of electrolyte and it w
as established that about 60% of the polymer film is electrochemically
oxidized. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
