ANALYSIS OF THE SPECTRUM OF 7-TIMES IONIZED LANTHANUM (LA-VIII)

The spectrum of lanthanum was photographed in the 80-1240 Angstrom wav elength region. The 5s(2)5p(2), 5s5p(3) and 5s(2)5p5d configurations o f La VIII were investigated. All levels of the 5s(2)5p(2),d 5s5p(3) co nfigurations and ten out of twelve levels of the 5s(2)5p5d configurati on were established. Hartree-Fock (HF) and least-squares-fitted (LSF) parametric calculations were carried out to interpret the spectrum. Fo rty-nine lines have been classified in La VIII in the 379-1145 Angstro m wavelength region.
