A case of overlooked placental choriocarcinoma revealed by rupture of
a hepatic metastasis is reported. The low prevalence of this condition
, the existence of a symptom-free interval after a pregnancy that was
considered normal, the absence of gynecologic warning signals, and the
fact that the lesions were isolated complicated the diagnosis. The ma
nagement of choriocarcinoma can be difficult in emergency situations,
and simple enucleation is a valid therapeutic option.
