The preparation of fibrous and spheroidal nanonstructured composites o
f gamma-alumina matrices impregnated with Eu2O3 together with their ph
ysico-chemical morphology are described. The emission properties of Eu
3+ ion were investigated in both nanocomposites. A more intense emissi
on in the spheroidal nanocomposite than in the fibrous has been found.
In addition to the Eu3+ emission two broad emission bands centered at
770 and 500 nm were observed. These latter are inherently associated
