Abstract
Warning devices and meters are necessary for personal safety in radio frequency (RF) and microwave electromagnetic fields. The relevant stan dards and guidelines dictate that the respective field strength must h e displayed that would exist if no one were present in the field. Acco rdingly, we must first determine to what extent the presence of a huma n body influences the individual electric and magnetic field component s. Extensive computer-based computations were performed to this end. W ith the results obtained, a field strength meter for personal safety a pplications was developed which exhibits significant advantages over p revious solutions.
