C. Boukouvalas et M. Petrou, PERCEPTUAL CORRECTION FOR COLOR GRADING USING SENSOR TRANSFORMATIONS AND METAMERIC DATA, Machine vision and applications, 11(2), 1998, pp. 96-104
We present a method of colour shade grading for industrial inspection
of surfaces, the differences of which are at the threshold of human pe
rception. This method converts the input data from the electronic sens
or to the corresponding data as they would have been viewed using the
human vision system. Then their differences are computed using a perce
ptually uniform colour space, thus approximating the way the human exp
erts would grade the product. The transformation from the electronic s
ensor to the human sensor makes use of synthetic metameric data to det
ermine the transformation parameters. The method has been tested using
real data.
