Abstract
Alkali earth salts of 1'-( diphenylphosphino) ferrocenecarboxylic acid were synthesized and characterized. Their spectral (NMR, IR, UV) data indicate a weak O-coordination of the phosphinocarboxylate to metal i ons in the solid state, the interaction being broken in polar solvents . By metathesis with sulfates of other metals, the salts might serve a s potential synthons for the preparation of O,P-chelated or bridged co mplexes which are inaccessible by more straightforward methods.
