In November 1996, typical symptoms of botulism were observe on a cattl
e farm, on which eight animals died within 11 days. In the mean time,
the feeding of silage and beet-pulp was stopped. Fourteen days after t
he last cow had died, again silage and beet-pulp were once again given
as feed. After this, one animal showed clinical signs of botulism. Cl
ostridium botulinum type B toxin was demonstrated in beet-pulp.
