Abstract
In November 1996, typical symptoms of botulism were observe on a cattl e farm, on which eight animals died within 11 days. In the mean time, the feeding of silage and beet-pulp was stopped. Fourteen days after t he last cow had died, again silage and beet-pulp were once again given as feed. After this, one animal showed clinical signs of botulism. Cl ostridium botulinum type B toxin was demonstrated in beet-pulp.
