Abstract
The authors have evaluated the performance of an optical receiver with polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) for non-return-to-zero (NRZ) and r eturn-to-zero (RZ) signals at 10Gbit/s, and found that the RZ format i s more tolerant to FMD than is the NRZ format.
