Abstract
Comparisons of current melting band detection techniques applied to hu ndreds of CAMRa RHI scans have revealed differences in estimating the width of the melting band as high as 600 m. The authors present a more accurate method for the determination of the width of the melting ban d and the implications for attenuation modelling of earth-space commun ication paths are discussed.
