Upper Triassic-Lower Jurassic volcanogenic and sedimentary deposits re
fered to the upper part of the section of the Ipyak ophiolite nappe (t
he Sevan-Akera zone, Lesser Caucasus) were studied and described for t
he first time. The section of these deposits on the Old Zod Pass is fo
und to be represented by sedimentary volcaniclasic breccias with horiz
ons of lavas, sandstones, jaspers and limestone blocks. Jaspers compri
se radiolarians of two stratigraphic levels: upper Carnian and Toarcia
n. These data suggest that the plutonic part of the Sevan-Akera comple
x is not younger than the late Carnian.
