J. Ren et Z. Wang, ANALYSIS OF BULGING AND STRAIN FOR CONTINUOUSLY CAST SLAB AS THERMOELASTIC CONTINUOUS BEAM, Ironmaking & steelmaking, 25(5), 1998, pp. 394-397
Thermoelastic bending theory for a continuous beam has been applied to
the analysis of bulging and strain in the solidifying shell of a cont
inuously cast slab. It has been proved that negative bulging may occur
in the practical casting machine because of changes in roll pitch and
roll misalignment. The effects of roll misalignment and pitch on bulg
ing and strain in the solidifying shell have been analysed. The forces
on support rolls have been computed. The above results are in agreeme
nt with published theoretical and experimental analyses of strand defo
rmation. IS/1335. (C) 1998 The Institute of Materials.
