Dual-frequency operation of a single-feed equilateral-triangular micro
strip antenna with a slit is demonstrated. Typical designs of the prop
osed antenna with the frequency: ratio of the two operating frequencie
s ranging form 1.201 ro 1.563 are implemented and analyzed it is found
that, for a fixed dual-frequency operation, the proposed antenna can
have a much smaller patch size (less than 50%) than that required by t
he design using a regular rectangular microstrip antenna. Details of t
he antenna design are described, and experimental results of the dual-
frequency performance are presented and discussed. (C) 1998 John Wiley
