The mechanism for the formation of CuS nanoparticles by in situ reacti
ons in the PAA-PVA polymer matrix was studied by UV-VIS and IR spectro
scopy, X-ray diffraction, and gravimetry. As evidenced by kinetic stud
ies, the formation of the CuS disperse phase involves the formation of
S-containing copper complexes, associates, amorphous clusters, and Cu
S crystal nanoparticles (similar to 4 nm). The high aggregate stabilit
y of the nanocompositions is associated both with the structure of the
mesophase layer and diffusion limitations in the reaction medium (swe
lled polymer matrix).
