Abstract
The stereoselective synthesis of a protected 4-formyltrinem 8 was acco mplished in good yield. This compound is a potential intermediate in t he synthesis of a wide range of 4-alkyl and alkenyl substituted triuem antibiotics, as evidenced by its reaction with a series of phosphoran es and phosphonates.
