Abstract
Hansenula polymorpha strains were developed and compared for their lev el of expression of the anticoagulant hirudin, H. polymorpha DL1-57 ha rboring an autonomously replicating sequence, HARS36, efficiently expr essed the gene for recombinant hirudin, The effect of methanol oxidase (MOX) on the expression of the hirudin gene in H. polymorpha DL1-57 w as studied, and the fermentation strategies coupled with the MOX activ ity and an antioxidant, tocopherol, were also examined.
