Abstract
We will consider a C. diffeomorphism of the real line R. and give a necessary and sufficient condition for a C. diffeomorphism of R to be embedded (uniquely) in a C. flow. As an application, we do the same for diffeomorphisms of the circle S¹ and a class of analytic diffeomorphisms of the plane R².
