We review some recent results from novel light emitting heterostructur es made from vacuum deposited organic semiconductors. The ability to g row these materials in amorphous or quasi epitaxial thin films on a va riety of substrates, and their unique optoelectronic properties, creat e device applications unobtainable with conventional inorganic materia ls.
