The results of testing the scintillation and radiation characteristics
of thin molded plates and new heavy scintillators based on polystyren
e with organometallic additives are presented. The radiation hardness
of 1.1-mm-thick cast scintillation plates containing 2% pTP + 0.05% PO
POP is 2 Mrad. The possibilities for development of these scintillator
-based, radiation-hard, heterogeneous, electromagnetic calorimeters wi
th an energy resolution of sigma/E similar or equal to (4-5%)/root E a
re discussed.
