Vf. Boreiko et al., POSITRON EMISSION TOMOGRAPH BASED ON COMPOSITE SCINTILLATORS, Instruments and experimental techniques (New York), 41(5), 1998, pp. 714-718
A single-ring positron emission tomograph is based on composite detect
ors of the new type comprising stacked thin layers of plastic scintill
ator and lead foil. The main characteristics of the tomograph were mea
sured including spatial resolution (4-6 mm in the detector plane), sen
sitivity (5859 coincidences per 1 mu Ci/ml solution activity), and the
number of accidental coincidences and the coincidences due to scatter
ed gamma-quanta. A tomographic image of the standard Derenzo phantom w
as obtained.
