Ag. Sukovatyi et al., HIGH-FREQUENCY SETUP FOR THE EMISSION SPECTRAL-ANALYSIS AND SMELTING OF PRECIOUS METALS, Instruments and experimental techniques (New York), 41(5), 1998, pp. 719-722
A setup for the emission spectral analysis and smelting of precious me
tals is described. The system is based on a high-frequency current gen
erator with the following parameters: power, 24 kW; voltage, 1500 V; c
urrent, 16 A; frequency, 66 kHz. The emission spectra are excited by a
plasmatron operated at a 10(-8) kg/K erosion rate of the consumable e
lectrode. Both monolith and powdered samples are introduced directly i
nto the discharge plasma. The detection threshold for Au is 10(-4)%. T
he setup is capable of melting 20 kg (1 liter) of gold within 7.6 min.
