Abstract
Solitary Alfven waves in electron positron ion plasmas are investigate d. The Alfven wave is shown to have an exact solitary wave solution fo r a small but finite value of beta. It is shown that the existence reg ions are different if the value of beta is changed; however, the chang e in K-x simply changes the soliton width. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics.
