Abstract
It is found that dust sheared flow in combination with the dust-neutra l drag produce a dissipative instability of short-wavelength (in compa rison with the ion gyroradius) electrostatic waves in nonuniform dusty magnetoplasmas. Furthermore, the nonlinear interactions between these finite amplitude short-wavelength waves give rise to a vortex chain w hich moves with a well defined constant velocity. The relevance of our investigation to laboratory and space plasmas has been pointed out. ( C) 1998 American Institute of Physics. [S1070-664X(98)01911-9].
